Join Pixellot’s Content & Monetization Engineering Team, where you’ll help build the foundational services that power the company’s next generation of sports content and monetization products. This is a hands-on backend engineering role focused on designing, building, and maintaining scalable microservices and data-driven systems in production environments.
At Pixellot, we are revolutionizing sports production through AI-powered solutions that automatically capture, analyze, and transform sports events into personalized experiences for players, teams, leagues, and fans worldwide.
As a Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the infrastructure and services behind our content generation, highlights, metadata, and monetization platforms, directly impacting the company’s growth and future vision as a Data-as-a-Service company.
As part of your role, you will:
Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
Develop microservices using technologies such as NestJS and Python.
Work on systems related to content generation, highlights, metadata processing, monetization flows, and integrations.
Collaborate closely with AI researchers, data engineers, product managers, and frontend engineers.
Take ownership of production systems, including observability, reliability, scalability, and performance.
Participate in architectural decisions and help define engineering standards and best practices.
Work with cloud-native technologies, asynchronous workflows, distributed systems, and modern AI-driven development methodologies.
Contribute to the evolution of the company’s data and content infrastructure.
Requirements
3+ years of backend development experience.
Strong backend development skills using TypeScript/JavaScript and Python, with hands-on experience building services using frameworks such as NestJS.
Experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
Strong understanding of scalable system design, distributed systems, and asynchronous workflows.
Familiarity with modern AI-assisted and agentic development workflows, including effectively leveraging AI tools and agents as part of the software development lifecycle.
Experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex systems.
Bonus points if you have:
Experience working with event-driven architectures and messaging systems.
Experience building data-intensive or video/content-related systems.
Familiarity with AWS services and cloud infrastructure.
Experience with observability tools, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
Experience working in fast-paced startup environments.
