Description This role is core to Gambit’s fast-paced, impact-driven R&D culture. You’ll own end-to-end features and critical systems - taking ideas from concept to production, making technical decisions with a clear line of sight to product impact, and maintaining high standards alongside fast delivery. As we grow, you’ll help shape the engineering culture itself. This is engineering ownership at its fullest. About the Role Cloud-native architecture: Design and build core backend systems for scale, reliability, and security System ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of critical components, workflows, and complex technical challenges Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with product, platform, and research teams, and partner with engineering leadership on technical direction Engineering standards: Mentor teammates and champion strong design practices, code quality, and review culture Technical decision-making: Make practical, forward-thinking calls in a fast-moving system and a rapidly evolving field Modern stack: Leverage modern technologies, cloud infrastructure, and tooling to ship advanced resilience solutions quickly Requirements ~5 years of backend engineering experience in strong engineering teams (startup or mature) - must Deep knowledge of cloud architecture, microservices, and modern databases, including designing and refactoring complex systems - must Experience with Golang, or strong backend fundamentals; GraphQL, Python, Protobuf, and gRPC - advantage Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalable cloud-native design Ability to make practical, forward-thinking technical decisions in fast-moving environments Excellent communication and collaboration across technical and product teams Comfortable owning priorities in a fast-paced startup setting
