Join our Data Centers group and play a key role in developing SolarEdge's next generation of high-performance power electronics solutions. We are seeking a FPGA Designer to join our HW team. In this role, you will design and develop high-performance FPGA solutions for control systems and inter-device communication. You will take ownership of complex hardware designs involving board-level integration, chip-to-chip communication, and high-speed serial protocols. This position requires strong technical expertise in digital design, communication protocols, and self-motivation to drive projects from concept to implementation. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and optimize FPGA implementations for control and communication applications using industry-standard hardware description languages (Verilog preferred) Architect and implement high-speed communication protocols including line-to-line and chip-to-chip communication interfaces Develop SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) controllers and asynchronous communication modules operating up to 100 Mbps Integrate Ethernet connectivity and MAC layer functionality into FPGA designs Collaborate with embedded, hardware and PCB design teams to ensure seamless board-level integration Design PCB layouts for FPGA peripheral ICs and related components Perform hands-on PCB-level testing, design validation, and debugging Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and verification strategies for FPGA designs Create detailed technical documentation including design specifications, timing diagrams, and implementation reports Perform timing analysis, simulation, and synthesis to optimize design performance and resource utilization Work independently on assigned projects while maintaining quality standards and project schedules Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge with the team Requirements BSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field 5+ years of professional FPGA design and development experience Proficiency in Verilog Demonstrated experience with SPI and serial communication protocols Strong understanding of digital design principles, timing closure, and resource optimization Experience with chip-to-chip and board-level communication interfaces Knowledge of asynchronous communication design and implementation Familiarity with FPGA synthesis and place-and-route tools Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent problem-solving and technical documentation skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with Ethernet MAC integration and high-speed serial protocols (GigE, 10GbE) Hands-on experience with board design and PCB layout considerations for high-speed signals Experience with power management and low-latency control systems Knowledge of hardware security and encrypted communication protocols Experience with simulation and testing tools Familiarity with agile development practices Previous experience in the renewable energy or power electronics industry
