Senior Backend Engineer

About The Position
We are Pi Security, founded by veterans from Tesla and Microsoft, redefining Application Security through autonomous AI agents and modern orchestration. Our platform connects to our customers' codebases and engineering tools, and deploys AI agents that autonomously find, prioritize, and remediate security issues - from code-level vulnerabilities to architectural design gaps. We are looking for a high-ambition engineer to join our team in Israel and take extreme ownership of a "zero legacy" stack (Python, FastAPI, Temporal, K8s, and Agentic AI).
As a key member of our backend team, you will act as a pragmatic builder who designs, builds, and operates the future of our platform from the ground up. We value a low-ego mindset and a passion for solving deep technical challenges in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
Backend Development: Design and build high-performance services using Python, FastAPI, and asynchronous workers.
AI Orchestration: Develop and maintain complex agent workflows, including RAG pipelines and autonomous orchestration.
Infrastructure & DevOps: Own the full deployment lifecycle, including containerization and scaling workloads on Kubernetes (EKS).
Workflow Management: Utilize Temporal to ensure durable and reliable workflow orchestration.
Data Persistence: Manage PostgreSQL databases and write migrations using Drizzle ORM to support evolving platform needs.
Engineering Culture: Lead architectural discussions, participate in deep-dive code reviews, and drive incident response.
Requirements
At least 4 years of experience in software development.
Python Expertise: Strong professional background with a focus on modern, asynchronous Python and FastAPI.
AI Systems: Proven experience building with LLMs and RAG architectures, focusing on system design over simple prompting.
Data Mastery: Strong command of relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL and modern ORMs like Drizzle.
Problem Solver: A fast learner with outstanding problem-solving skills who thrives in a "zero legacy" environment.
Team Player: A collaborative engineer with a focus on collective success and technical excellence.
Nice-to-Have
Experience with Temporal or similar distributed workflow engines.
Background in cybersecurity or application security products.
